Our guide to the best and most cost-effective LED Christmas Lights
With the cost-of-living crisis affecting many, families might be looking to cut down on their usual festive spending over the Christmas and New Year period. Having a memorable Christmas whilst going easy on your purse and the planet is not as difficult as you think and with planning, you can still enjoy the holiday celebrations.
With lights being wrapped around homes and trees all over the country, we take a look at the best and most affordable lights for a greener Christmas this year.
LED lights
LED lights consume 80-90% less energy than traditional filament bulbs and can potentially last up to 100,000 hours, meaning they trump any traditional bulb which stands at 9,000 hours. White LED lights and multicoloured LED lights are essentially the same prices to run and do not get as hot, so there is less chance of them catching fire as they are a lower voltage than traditional bulbs.
Our vast array of Christmas lights has been carefully selected to reduce the extra energy you are using and the impact on your purse as well as the environment.
Tree lights
The Christmas tree is often the focal point over the holidays so why not switch your old incandescent lights to some brand-new sparkly LED ones? Our 500 Treebrights Multi-Action Christmas Tree Lights are just 30p for an 8-hour day over a monthly period.
To save even more energy and pennies, connect to a timer to control how long your lights are on during the day and evening. Our 200 rainbow, gold and warm white Supabrights LEDs come complete with a timer and cost 20p a day to run over 30 days.
Interior lights
A minimalistic 50 warm white LEDs costs as little as 5p a day for 30 days, whilst if you want a burst of colour this Noel, 50 Multi-Coloured Pearl Berry LED Lights will also cost a meagre 5p a day for 30 days.
If decorating your fireplace, our LED parcels cost no more than 13p a day to run, or if you wish to bring the Christmas stars into your home, the Ultrabright Star will shine bright for just 28p a day.
Research by Which? revealed that the cheapest setting to run your lights would be “flash” which would cost around 20p a day between 1st December and 31st January. The most expensive setting was “always on” which cost 56p a day to run during the same period.
Outdoor lights
Decorating the outside of your home for Christmas is just as important as the inside. Outdoor displays are becoming ever so popular with neighbours able to see and appreciate them as they walk past. Our Snowflake Pathfinder Outdoor Christmas Lights will cost just 12p a day to line your home’s entrance
A simple LED “Santa Stop Here” sign can cost as little as 0.03p for 8 hours a day for 30 days, meaning your children can experience the Christmas joy. If you want to do an outdoor front garden or door display, no problem – a LED Polar Bear or Reindeer costs 30p a day for 30 days, whilst snowing icicles for your house façade costs just37p.
Solar Lighting
Solar lighting is also a cost-effective way to take your Christmas party outdoors after the sun goes down. The lights harness their energy from the sun, so place them where they will receive the maximum amount of direct sunlight per day. Hang around garden structures or strung up in trees to give height and dimension to your outdoor space.
